If you want to watch something different, something striking, catchy and colourful, just watch Chethana Ranasinghe’s newest music video of the song ‘Waiwarna Naari‘ which is now playing across various digital platforms especially on the RedFox Youtube channel.

Popular young generation songstress Chethana Ranasinghe is no stranger to the world of showbiz.

Her tuneful musical career began in 2008 with the unfurling of Derana Dream Star Season 1. Since then there has been no stopping for this gifted girl who rose to fame and was engaged in music for several years. But Waiwarna Naari, released two days ago, is her latest, colourful project reaching audiences after a fairly long break.

Multi-talented Chethana who is herself thrilled about the whole production, says doing a new song was playing up in her mind for some time but it became a reality after it was conceptualized together with Pasan Liyanage with whom they discussed how to create something significant.

Describing how the song actually evolved, Chethana said: “We wanted to do something different but catchy as well that would appeal to the senses of our music lovers. This is my first solo production after a considerable period of time. One reason for such a delay in coming out with a new production was my higher studies and my professional commitments. However, following discussions with Pasan we got the lyrics penned by Shehan Galahitiyawa. We decided on a style that would be fast beat so that I could exploit my dancing prowess too. In fact, the country witnessed my dancing prowess following the Derana City of Dance contest some years ago. In addition, I also served a stint as a television presenter on TV Derana.

Then when it came to the music video creation Sandesh Bandara was my unanimous choice. I really wanted to work with this talented youngster. Finally, the end product has come out beautifully with the initial feedback so encouraging.  Asanga de Silva did the choreography while the costumes were designed by Wenuka Wickremaarachchi. Overall it was a momentous team effort and I am grateful to everyone who contributed to this creation. Pathum Janith featured with me in the music video. I am especially indebted to my loving husband Kasun Pasqual who has really been my biggest strength, motivating me right throughout. Completing this mission amidst Covid pandemic restrictions was the biggest challenge,” said Chethana.
